PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

BRC began operating its newest program, the Jack Ryan Residence, in August 2011. The Jack Ryan Residence, funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services, is a 200-bed shelter for homeless men living with mental illness. The program provides a complete range of mental health stabilization, medication management, case management, and medical services aimed at moving residents into permanent housing. The ultimate goal of the program is to place its clients into appropriate, supportive housing within nine months

HOURS:                                                                

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

  1. Wed-Fri 8am-430pm; Sat & Sun 4pm-1230am
  2. Sat-Tue 4p-12:30a; Wed 12a-8:30a
  3. Sunday; 8:00a-4:30p, Monday-Thursday; 4:00p-12:30a
  4. Friday-Sunday; 4:00p-12:30a, Monday & Tuesday; 8:00a-4:30p

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Technicians will be assigned to work at an Upstairs Post in the shelter and/or at the Front Door Operations Post in the lobby and will be responsible for maintaining safe and sanitary conditions at the 25th Street site. 


Responsible for monitoring residential program for mentally ill homeless men. Conduct rounds of the facility to ensure that it is safe and orderly. Perform crisis intervention with clients when needed. Maintain written documentation. Serve meals. Inventory supplies. Escort clients and assist them with ADLs. Help to maintain an orderly and clean facility. Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or GED required; Experience working with MICA/homeless population preferred; Basic Computer literacy required and good oral and written communications skills needed. Bilingual preferred. NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification and CPR Certification a plus. Willingness and ability to pass tests to acquire CPR and Fire Safety Credentials required.
