JOB TITLE: Vice President for Construction Management

PROGRAM/UNIT: Administration

REPORTS TO: Chief Real Estate Development Officer

HOURS: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk; 5 days, 7:30a-4p)

BRC is looking to fill the newly created position of Vice President for Construction Management. Reporting to the Chief Real Estate Development Officer, this individual will further BRC's efforts to develop housing and facilities for low-income and homeless New Yorkers. BRC has a robust and varied pipeline of projects starting construction over the next 2 years. The VP for Construction Management will bring extensive technical expertise and knowledge in the field of construction and construction project management. Experience with multifamily residential construction is crucial, with a strong preference for supportive and affordable housing projects in NYC or NYS.

Duties / responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Work collaboratively with other members of BRC's Real Estate Department and other departments, particularly Program / Facilities.

Visit active construction projects daily or several times a week, with a special eye on quality, schedule and cost.

Participate in regular construction meetings alongside general contractors and subcontractors, contracted architects, design engineers, bank engineers and others.

Review construction requisitions and schedules for accuracy.

Communicate and liaise with housing agency staff, lender representatives, and other parties.

Provide critical feedback during the design phase of projects, based on a solid understanding of organizational needs and logistical and operational challenges.

Troubleshoot capital issues at existing facilities, including advising on proper systems maintenance.

Interact, as needed, with the Board of Directors' Housing/Real Estate Committee.

Work with community leaders and neighbors, consistent with BRC's Good Neighbor Policy.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience (8+ years preferred) in construction project management of projects exceeding $5M in hard costs.

Familiarity with new building construction and/or major rehabilitation.

Knowledge of a variety of mechanical systems, including proper maintenance protocols.

Firm understanding of fire safety systems a plus.

Undergraduate degree preferred, particularly in architecture or engineering; or commiserate years of relevant work experience.

Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings; knowledge of CAD &/or Revit a plus.

Strong listening and verbal communication skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and pay attention to detail.

A team player who can work both independently and collaboratively.
