HOURS Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES


Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Budget Director is a key member and decision maker of the fiscal team, and a member of BRC's Senior Management Team, working closely with the CFO, the Controller, the VP of Grants & Contracts, as well as other senior managers across the organization. The Budget Director manages, monitors and evaluates BRC's annual operating budget, and provides monthly analysis to senior management. This is a highly collaborative role within the fiscal department with touchpoints throughout the agency.


Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate the preparation and execution of the annual operating budget in close consultation with the fiscal team, the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Executive Officer and the finance committee.
  • Provide monthly analysis of the agency's operating expense performance compared to budget.
  • Work hand in hand with the fiscal team in the preparation and analysis of periodic financial forecasts of operating expenses and other activities as needed.
  • Monitor and report on expenditures and provide supporting spending analysis to the fiscal team.
  • Make recommendations for planning and corrective actions, with the goal of minimizing end of year surpluses and avoiding deficits.
  • Conduct analysis on program efficiencies in the use of financial resources and make recommendations with the purpose of enhancing efficiency and increasing productivity.
  • Provide biweekly updates of agency-wide staffing allocations and implement allocation changes as needed.
  • Assist the VP of Grants & Contracts and the contracts team in preparing annual funder budgets, budget modifications and closeouts.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis for senior management as needed.
  • Manage the budget/financial analysis team, including hiring, performance evaluation and professional development.
  • Complete job responsibilities in a professional manner, resolving requests and providing assistance to all levels of agency staff.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, with a 'roll your sleeves up' mentality.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree, preferred; minimum 2 years of college required.
  • Experience with government contract administration, reporting and budgeting required; added benefir if this includes experience with NYC Department of Homeless Services contracts.
  • Experience in a nonprofit fiscal department required,
  • Experience supervising and developing staff preferred.
  • Superior project management experience required (PMP certification a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work collaboratively.
  • Superior prioritization, organization and communication (both verbal and written) skills are crucial.
  • Ability to work well under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced analytic and technical reporting capabilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro; knowledge of Intacct accounting software or similar is a plus.
