PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

This 103-bed women's shelter in Brooklyn serves a population suffering from multiple issues including mental illness, substance abuse and serious medical problems. The program offers the full range of case management services as well as on-site psychiatric and medical care. It also incorporates a workforce development component for women who can benefit from this service. The Lexington Avenue Women's Residence is funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services.


HOURS:

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Monday - Friday; 9:00a - 5:30p


DUTIES:

Oversee health services for 103-bed women's shelter. Supervise License Practical Nurses. Coordinate care during client medical emergencies, including providing first aid/CPR. Facilitate in-service training for staff on medication and health-related issues. Assist with health services delivery, including but not limited to medication administration, health assessments, patient education group facilitation, Medicaid/health insurance enrollment, and documentation. Cultivate liaisons with community-based medical, dental, and pharmaceutical providers. Work with management team in program strategic planning and development efforts. Ensure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines. Related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

LPN license required. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with mentally ill and/or MICA population preferred. Basic computer literacy required. First Aid/CPR certification or the ability to pass test to acquire these credentials required.
