PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Located on the Lower East Side, Clyde Burton House is a permanent SRO housing facility with a capacity for 33 formerly homeless men and women over the age of 55. The program is funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services, the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. In addition to providing permanent housing for its tenants, Clyde Burton House offers a variety of services aimed at helping clients maintain their independence and build a community of support among peers, including case management, medication monitoring, referrals to medical facilities, health education, psychiatric management, entitlement support and money management, recreational activities, assistance with activities of daily living and free meals.

Program Description: The Palace Apartments, a 24-room fully renovated SRO on the top floor of the former Palace Hotel, serves prior residents of the old Bowery lodging house as well as homeless individuals who are ready for independent living. The program is funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services, the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. In addition to providing permanent housing for its tenants, Palace Apartments offers a variety of services aimed at helping clients maintain their independence and build a community of support among peers, including case management, referrals to medical facilities, health education, entitlement support, recreational activities, assistance with activities of daily living and free meals.

HOURS:

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Monday - Friday; 9:00am - 5:30pm

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the management of all facets of two congregate supportive housing programs located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan: a 33 bed-SRO for older mentally ill adults and a 24-unit SRO for adults with a disabling condition. Oversee the development and implementation of program services, tenant service plans, and coordination of clinical care. Evaluate program service delivery to meet tenant needs. Produce regular and as-needed reports. Manage and supervise site-based staff. Effectively coordinate services with other BRC programs and external providers. Ensure compliance with contracts and regulations. Responsible for 24-hour operations, including security and building services. Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned. Reports to a Vice President overseeing a cluster of related programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree preferred in one of the mental health disciplines, public administration, or related human services. BA required. Minimum of two years in a supervisory or managerial position. Demonstrated leadership abilities. Significant experience working in a transitional or supportive housing setting with individuals who are diagnosed with psychiatric disorders or who have substance abuse disorders preferred. Experience with harm reduction and motivational interviewing techniques. Demonstrable written and oral communication, and group facilitation skills. Prior experience with AWARDS and Yardi property management database is preferred. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.
